What we do

The San Benito Housing Authority, founded in 1950, oversees 321 public housing units and offers two main programs: Public Housing and the Housing Choice Voucher Program (formerly Section 8).

In Public Housing, the authority owns and manages properties, collects rent directly, and applicants join a waitlist at the office, with selection based on availability and unit size.

For the Voucher Program, tenants pay a portion of rent to private landlords, with the authority covering the remainder. Applicants apply at the office, with wait times contingent on funding and voucher availability, and selection is based on application order.
